Free Home and Office Chargers for Scots EV drivers

Update 1: 1st August 2012

Appliction forms are available from the Energy Saving Trust now. However an installer has still not been appointed. Applications are welcome from buyers fo EVs even if you have only got to the order stage and not recieved your car yet.

We emphasise that details of this scheme are still being worked out however;

The Energy Saving Trust in Scotland is managing a program on behalf of Transport Scotland offering Free charging equipment to all EV drivers in Scotland as follows;

  • Domestic charging points – 100% funding for the cost of a 16A homecharger unit and installation will be available for any EV owner in Scotland.
  • Workplace charging points – 100% funding for the cost of a charging post and installation. Organisations will be expected to make the post publicly accessible and organisations will be selected on their suitability (e.g. location, access etc.). There is limited funding for this stream so all applicants will need to go through a selection process (please also note that dealerships are unfortunately not eligible for this funding).

While you may contact the Energy Savings Trust Directly we know that there will be a lot of questions about this scheme and until full details are known it would be useful if these could be coordinated through the Electric Vehicle Association Scotland info@eva-scotland.org .

We are arranging a meeting with the Energy Savings Trust in the near future and will post any updates.

  1. I’ve been in touch after a chance meeting with someone from EST(Scotland), she has sent me a form to fill in and send to Stephen Rennie, you need to have an EV as it requires registration details. May ask some more questions, as it would be better for anyone buying or ordering a car to be able to arrange a charging point before delivery, so that once they get the car they can charge it!
    I’m new to this site, so hello everyone.

  2. The Energy Saving Trust have confirmed that they will accept applications for installation of charging equipment prior to delivery of an EV. Evidence of placement of an order and payment of deposit will be required. The application form will be chnaged to note this.

  4. Application form now submitted to EST who have finalised installer contracts.
    Should hear in the new year about installation, which is really great news, thanks for EST for supporting this scheme.

  5. Still waiting but EST are optimistic about feb 2013 for installation.

    Stephen Rennie is the best contact as EST to use.
